Artist's Description

Top of the the Cerro Torre has an ice mushroom. Combined with constant strong winds and the difficulty in climb Cerro Torre becames a formidable challange for the climbers.
In 1970, an Italian climber Cesare Maesteri drilled 400 bolts in the last 350 metre rocky part of the mountain with the help of a gas-powered compressor, and reached the top, just below the ice mushroom. The compressor was left tied to the last bolts, 100 m below the top.
Recently, some of the bolts and the compressor have been taken down.
